Google Panda 2.5 has arrived!

Posted by:

Google has recently confirmed that the latest iteration of its Panda algorithm update is live – this is Panda Update 2.5.

The Panda update was implemented to weed out low quality and spammy content across the web in order that high quality and authoritative sites may be better placed in the rankings against high performing, lower quality competitors.

Google declined to humour us with specifics about what types of sites, pages or content this update targeted, instead only sharing the company’s default statement:

We’re continuing to iterate on our Panda algorithm as part of our commitment to returning high-quality sites to Google users. This most recent update is one of the roughly 500 changes we make to our ranking algorithms each year.

If your ranking changed around the start of this month it could be because of this new Panda update. One of the main reasons could be that your website is not updated regularly. Google is focusing more on how much new content is on your website.

Another factor that has changed is the quality of links to your site – the value of better quality links are getting more and more important.
